We sold the last PC Micro Computers
Made in the U.S.A. and fought to the end trying to save the American Dream for all of us
(The above is from 1987. About three years later,
Wells America introduced a new super micro channel PC computer with added innovations but by that time the cheap foreign imports
took over and Wells America closed down as the last micro computer made in the USA . We will never know what could have
been as all this vast technology and innovations were lost. )
We never thought the American people would
be fooled by the greatest scam of the century - free trade and fought to the end for the American Dream. I was a trouble shooter
supplyer to many major accounts including industrial computer and cat scan manufacturers. I represented Wells America and
sold their systems nationwide. I also had computers built featuring the best in U.S. made components under my own branded
labels with Arkline Purer Data being the major private brand. We sold these computers to major hospitals, industrial
computer makers, universities, and other top accounts. The industrial computer manufacturers were having many
problems adapting to foreign made components. As I said before at some other pages, U.S manufacturing was still be driven
by production engineers coming from the zero defects manufacturing era and were lost when foreign manufacturers would change
things in components without even adding a code for the revision or change the product code. They usually field tested a part
for six months before they accepted it and then brought it back where many times they put the component through destruct testing
to make sure everything worked under all kinds of conditions. However, after all this and putting in a large order
for the approved part, it no longer the same item with foreign manufacturers changing things at will.
Our Arkline
Purer Data computers were also sold as Digital Radar Weather forcasting systems. During this time, we also sold USA
made components to China and Canada accounts.
Micro computers have come a long way in adding speed and other
options but PC Micro computers back then had many more hardware and software options. Much of the software to
accelerate speed and there was vast selection was free.
Today it would be impossible to do what I
did as a trouble shooter supplyer because so many supply channels no longer exist. There was a community
of high tech people who gave advice and their expertise for free. I was even able to call a production engineer on the
factory floor of a chip manufacturer and get free advice. We also able to revamp systems in the field using more than
one vendor to do it.
We gave this all way while more than a million workers lost their jobs in the
computer field alone. Thousands of companies like my own faded away. Hundreds of U.S.computer makers closed down.
Now we have a $ 200 computer in class rooms as if they will create the future. And as see we have minimum wage
workers on computers everywhere with jobs leading nowhere. And if the factory jobs that I enjoyed while going to college
were still available, thousands would be standing in line to get them including college grads and grads with advanced
degrees. I biggest business mistake was to trust that this would not happen. But it did.
Just think what
could have been if all this talent was not wasted . We could have easily avoided the mess the world finds itself in today.
Those who spent their lives developing three generations of computer technology were thrashed and represent the throw
away society we have today. Our present President and all recent Presidents caused our economic crisis. Now our economies
based on making money on money instead of making things are burning out and the real innovations that could have been will
never come.
We tailored computers for customers specs with the
top components Made in the USA including free software & upgrades -
We built and tailored our own Arkline computers according to customers
specs. There was a vast collection of U.S. Made components including excellent graphic cards of all kinds. Our
Arkline Digital Radar Weather systems were sold to school systems and cities. The software was able to even describe fog conditions
for any particular location in a ten mile range. There was plenty of free speed up software utilities and other free
software packages. We provided loads of free support and information to clients and even those who were not . All
of this was gone by the mid 1990s due to free trade. Hundreds of computer and computer component manufacturers were forced
out of business. Thousands of computer dealers and system houses that flourished during the 1980s were also forced out of
business.

PC compters, Calibration and Diagnostic devices = Part of every computer generations and their innovations. National
Accounts Manager / Started several Branch and Regional Offices for major Computer Manufacturers. Sold directly
to China and Canadian accounts and in own business for more than 25 years as trouble shooter supplier to major manufacturers.
