Workers Betrayed by Free
Trade - NAFTA, GATT, CAFTA, WTO, Fast Track etc . .
Welcome Dysfunctional Globalists and
Dislocated Workers who have no voice in
the process of Globalization!
The state of our cities in the USA - the print
media and news channels out of touch with the streets of U.S.
In cities like Cleveland Ohio , we have miles of boarded
up store fronts and empty factories. We have dead towns across the USA with storage containers rolling by on railroads full
of imports. Many of the storage containers from China are owned in part directly by the Chinese Liberation Army.
50%
of the young blacks in the inner city are unemployed. U.S.prison population is breaking records with over 2 million in prison.
The need for emergency food keeps breaking records. There are food kitchens now even in the suburbs.
..... The
new global economy........ Temporary help and casual labor offices are in the hundreds. We have working families who are
homeless. They do not make enough money to afford a place to live. We have people hunting through the garbage on pick up day.
We have old baptism rooms look like grocery stores serving members food even in the suburbs. Foreclosures of homes is big
business. It is even advertised on national TV. It seems like pay day loan stores are everywhere for those needing money before
payday. We have had record breaking bankruptcies for several years. Reportedly 47% of all small business people have maxed
out their credit cards trying to save their businesses. Both President Clinton and President Bush tell us that 20,000 jobs
are created for every billion dollars in exports. They say nothing about the reverse. In the past 17 years, the trade deficits
related to imports in 3.8 trillion dollars. How many jobs were lost due to unfair Free Trade related to the trillions of dollars
of deficits. The trade deficit was $125 billion dollars with China last year. This alone mean s that 125 x 20,000 jobs were
lost due to the China trade.
Teachers tell us that they bribe students with food to come after classes for tutoring.
Poverty is evident everwhere in most of our cities. This is the state of our cities and towns. And newspapers like
the Cleveland Plain Dealer Welcomes CAFTA, Welcomes Free Trade and Welcomes more of the same. The percentage of
all who declared bankruptcy over 45 was 27 percent in 1994. It increased to 39 percent in 2002. People
over 55 and older now account for 22 percent of those filing for bankruptcy, up from less than 10 percent in 1994 - (
Plaind Dealer "Older Americans filing for bankruptcy in increasing numbers" July 4th 2007).
41 million families are struggling to meet basic needs.
Researchers said the problem is threefold.
-Too many jobs with low pay and no benefits.
-Government policies that exclude the working poor
from housing, food and other subsidy programs.
-Eligible families that don't get assistance from
programs because of limited funding, long waiting lists or a complex application process.
Graph shows 36 percent in our nation's capital - Washington D.C. -Working but not making
ends meet.
( From Center for Economic and Policy Research- via
Plain Dealer Alison Grant, October 11, 2007)
38 percent of all workers qualify for unemployment
insurance. They do not make enough money in any given period or they do not work long enough at the same job to qualify. Still,
the unemployment reporting considers a single mother making only a $100 a month - employed.

Print Media and other News channels out of touch.
On July 30, 2005, The Cleveland Plain Dealer 's main editorial was "Welcome, CAFTA" . The subtitle reads "
After an undeserved battering from interest groups, free - trade deal survives to move Americas forward ". The editors
further stated .... - Free trade - and, we believe, the best economic interests of all involved - carried the day.
The reference to "undeserved battering from interest groups" demonstrates and example of how far out of touch
our print media is. In one of these interest groups is Bishop Alvaro Ramazzini who spoke in the U.S. House of Representatives
and at Berkley in opposition to CAFTA. He has a $50,000 price on his head for his advocacy for the impoverished in Guatemala.
Seven years ago Bishop Juan Gerardi was assinated for his stand for the oppressed populations in Guatemala. Two protestors
were killed and several other injured while protesting against CAFTA. Are these the interest groups the Plain Dealer is
talking about.
The unfair trade agreement CAFTA passed by only two votes. The " undeserved battering from interest groups "
represented a vast opposition from various groupings.
All who voted for this unfair trade agreement in the Senate and House of Representatives should be defeated. In Ohio,
Senator Voinovich and Senator DeWine voted for it. Representative Steve LaTourette did too. These men no longer represent
American workers and deny the workers their voice in the matter. Find how your Senators and Representatives voted and stop
this terrible degradation of the workday and human dignity in the USA and other countries now.
So called Free Trade is not trade as historically understood. It is primarily the moving production from place to place
based on the cheapest labor markets. Recent history shows that factories are portal - ready to move at anytime if the workers
demand a living wage or benefits. Any attempt by workers to unite meets with strong oppositiion with lives at stake. The main
commodities being traded are human beings as workers. The workers are put on a world trading block to compete down to the
lowest common denominators of wage slave and even child labor.
There is a new kind of terrorism in our cities. For example, in the past 15 years over 25 Arab American grocers have
been killed during robberies in Cleveland Ohio. Those who came to the USA to escape terrorism were victims of this new terrorism
in our country. Compare this with the past when there were ten times more supermarkets across town less than ten were killed
during robbery.
Also note that there were many $12,000 jobs and a real live Middle Class as late as the 1970s. A first class stamp cost
only cents and you could buy a mid size brand new car for only about $3500. A decent home that now sells for close to
$200,000 was only about $25,000 back then. Equating all this, jobs should now average over $60,000. Of course they do not.
Instead of using the 1950 to 1980 economies as an economic model, free traders call for more and more brutal flexibilization
of labor in a new kind of slave trade consisting of wage slaves and even child labor. At the same time, The Cleveland Plain
Dealer "Welcomes CAFTA" and more Free Trade.

Free Trade betrays Workers -Workers Bearing their Cross...
Locked out workers bearing their cross . Free
Trade, CAFTA, NAFTA, GATT and Fast Track breeds brutal ' flexibilzation of labor '.
March 2006 - AK Steel replaces its workers again. AK Steel has locked out nearly 2,700 employees in Middletown Ohio and has
hired replacement workers. AK locked out workers in Mansfield Ohio for 39 months starting in 1999 which prompted the artwork
above. The union workers in Middletown set records for productivity and quality, and took pride in the plant's operations
and its importance to the city of Middletown's 50,000 people.
A federal judge also has ordered AK Steel to pay at least $46.2 million dollars to 1,250 former employees over pension
benefits. Many steelworkers from other steel companies are now having their pensions paid by the U.S. Government insurance
pension program that is going broke too.
At the same time, President Bush is touring India and pushing for more outsourcing and insourcing of jobs. Lou Dobbs of
CNN who wrote the book Exporting America says Free Trade is destroying America. No one is predicting when this race to the
bottom will end.
CAFTA & NAFTA - FREE TRADE TRAP !
Did the U.S. Government start funding the moving of factories to Mexico and Central America in 1956 ? How long did this
program continue? Later, did the U.S. Government support and fund the Maquiladora factories in Mexico with many more U.S.
companies moving their production there ?
We have asked The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Senator Voinovich an Senator DeWine and others to answer these questions to no
avail. (Ask your leaders and the media the same questions and see if any of them will respond.)
Free Trade has a long history and it is a history of failures. Reportedly, the U.S. government did have a program that
funded the moving of factories to Mexico and Central America starting in 1956 and they also supported the Maquiladora factories
in Mexico years later prior to NAFTA being passed. The initial program was supposed to be just a temporary measure but it
grew as the years went by. 2,000 U.S. factories were moved to Mexico prior to the passing of NAFTA. After NAFTA was passed,
this number quickly doubled to 4,000. The unfair NAFTA trade agreement just confirmed what was going on for a long time and
speeded up the process. Shortly after NAFTA, President Clinton had to rush billions of dollars to save the Peso. Close to
this time, there was also a bloody revolt in Mexico primarily due to subsistent living farmers not able to compete with the
foreign subsidized agricultural corporations. This is what Free Trade is really all about and it is a sad history demonstrating
a betrayal of the American workers and workers in other countries.
The new global economy was artificially inseminated by elite groupings in government and big business. It is not something
new and it is not trade. Teddy Roosevelt said the greatest threat to our country is corrupt politicians tied to corrupt businesses.
Franklin Roosevelt said economic diseases are highly communicable. Today we have a epidemic in economic terms. The trade deficits
total 3.8 trillion dollars for the past 17 years. The government is now paying many pensions since so many companies have
gone bankrupt. A working poor class has been created in the USA with 3/4 of all workers without college making less than
ever. Only about 38% of all workers qualify for unemployment insurance. The Bureau of Labor Statistics no longer can use this
source as a way of reporting unemployment because so few qualify. The unemployment rates are impossible to compare with the
rates in the past since someone making only a hundreds dollars a month is considered employed. This would be laughable thirty
years ago. It is the first time the young are making less than the prior generation.
"...Calling CAFTA free trade is a smoke screen and dishonest"...
From Plain Dealer by Karl Hess Aug. 27, 2005
Regarding RPM International Inc. President and CEO Frank C. Sullivan 's support of the Central American Free Trade Agreements
(Letters, Aug. 16) and Rep. Steve LaTourette's flip flop: (Rep Steve LaTourette reversed his vote and voted for CAFTA.)
Sullivan certainly has a right to advocate for all the Christmas presents he can get from the American taxpayers. Whether
we want to bestow them is up to us. But to call CAFTA free trade is dishonest. The usual definition of free trade iss freedom
from government interference in what-ever the corporations want to do. In addition to the tariff reductions, CAFTA includes
secret tribunals that override U.S. laws and extra privileges for corporations at the expense of the American people and the
Central American people.
The core problem is that, as Adam Smith recognized, businessmen are always trying in secret to evade the free market they
proclaim their fealty to. We all see in papers articles about tax breaks for favored companies that are inserted into tax
bills the night before passage. Alcoa even tried to get the U.S. government to establish an alumininum cartel because the
price of hits product had gotten lower that the company officials liked. Thata was when Paul O'Neil was CEO, and before he
was secretary of the Treasury, preaching "free trade" around the world. The evidence is overwhelming for those
whose eyes are open.
CAFTA will cause all kinds of problemsfor the American people, as NAFTA has, but calling it free trade is a smoke screen.

Saying No! to Hillary and Bill. The second coming
of the Clintons has been postponed for a time. We still have time to revisit the Land of ' is ' where
everything seem to be reversed . It all depended on what your definition of ' is ' is...
While President Clinton proclaimed statistical prosperity, the U.S. was still going through the most
massive dislocation of jobs in history with millions losing their jobs. President Clinton steered the passing of the
unfair NAFTA and GATT trade agreements acting as one with Dole and Gingrich . It must be noted that Congress was
still controlled by the Democrats when this happened. Hillary backed her husband in all this and it is like putting
the fox in charge of the chicken coop if she becomes President. See http://tapsearch.com/tapartnews/id18.html or http://ezinearticles.com/?id=424760 rss feed for all ezine articles by Ray Tapajna , click http://ezinearticles.com/members/rss/Ray-Tapajna.xml

Workers have had no voice in the passing of the unfair CAFTA, NAFTA, GATT, WTO and Fast Track trade bills.
It is time to have a National Referendum on workers issues.
In the passing of GATT, Senator Dole said that it whole state seemed to be against the issue but he was going to vote
for it anyway. It seems our Political Leaders want to do things without the consent from those who voted them into office.
A National Referendum should be called because of this betrayal.
