Tariffs taken off products and put on human beings as workers become the real commodities being traded in the free trade world. President Obama bails out the financial communites and Wall Street with our economy based on making money on money instead of making things is burning out. The bails outs act as tarriffs too on future generations.

Virtues gone mad

Ray Tapajna - We previously posted  an article about Naturalism noting it is based on denying the aptitude for truth and how G.K Chesterton noted this as virtues going mad because they are isolated from each other and are wandering alone.

It seems this also applys to our social economic response to things too.

We have people of good will supporting illegal immigrants without asking questions why are they coming to America since Free Trade is supposed to be a success. We now have many in the USA that consider Free Trade as something good even though it has a history of failures and is a major cause of our economic crisis. There's no real money left to pay any bills including health care.

We noted what ten Mexican Bishops say about Free Trade being cultural death and a Bishop from Central America telling the U.S. Congress the same thing to prior to the passing of the CAFTA trade agreement. In Cleveland a Congressman changed his mind and voted for CAFTA. He made the deal to save more than a 1,000 jobs for his vote - these jobs were Federal Government jobs that Cleveland was going to lose. ( Another example of virtues going mad.) Probably the Federal Government workers are part of the group who say Free Trade is a good thing.

Still, the Free Traders push for more of the same with President Obama being one of them to the core. He bails out big money while ignoring all who lost their jobs due to Free Trade and Globalization. He never mentions this as a cause and effect of our econmic crisis. He hides our economic mess by centering the peoples' attention on health care.

______________

This letter was published in the Cleveland Plain Dealer in May of 2006 and tells the story behind the story about illegal immigration with Free Trade being the cause of the massive migration.

FREE TRADE has only made matters worst

Ther is an untold story behind the illegal immigration story. The first question to ask is, why did these immigrants come to the United States? They came to seek jobs. The what happen to the Free Trade that was supposed to provide the jobs in Mexico?

The massive migration of workers demonstrates that Free Trade has failed. The United States has moved more than 4,000 factories to Mexico to save the Mexican economy since 1956, including more than 2,000 that were moved since NAFTA trade agreement was passed in 1993. Obviously, the exporting of our factories to Mexico did not work, and after getting NAFTA passed, President Bill Clinton has to rush billions of dollars to Mexico to save the peso. ( The first stimulus package went to foreign nation - Mexico in 1994. )

In the end, an impoverished, destiture working class was created in Mexico, and a working poort class was created in the United States. Nafta proved to be a Trojan horse. Illegal immigration speeds up the race to the bottom for workers, and workers' dignity is crushed in both countries - while the globalist free-traders call for more of the same. ( ....as President Obaman does today.)

Franklin Roosevelt said economic diseases are highly communicable. Today, they are an epidemic in more ways than one. Ray Tapajna, Plain Dealer 2006

( And President Obama's economic vaccine is applied by merging big government with big money. The bail out of the financial communities and Wall Street now act as tariffs on workers and future generations to come. The Bewildered New World asks how could this have happened while they continue to shop at places like Wal-mart continuing to shop their way out of their jobs. They will soon find out that Free Trade is certainly not free. It is all about virtues going mad. )

The Bewildered New World hears from the Pope. It may be too little and too late.

Laurie Goodstein and Rachel Dunadio from the New York Times reported the issuing of Pope Benedict economic encyclical was delayed due to the economic crisis.  We explored the latent response of religion and philsophy to the global economic arena at http://www.therationale.com  Religion has trailed economic events for a long time instead of making a stand.   Newsweek/Washington Post published a review by Father Thomas J Reese SJ at Georgetown University and some who responded to the article wondered why Father Reese did not say more about what he thought about it and just repeated sections from it .
