Locked out Workers Bearing their Cross

Replacement workers take over -Artwork by Ray Tapajna

More than a million workers lost their jobs in the computer industry in the USA with many never finding another similar job.
More than 100 major computer manufacturers closed down and thousands of smaller computer related companies closed down too.  In just the tri-state area around my computer business, ( that I enjoyed for more than 25 years ), 1000 similar businesses closed down.  I thought I was too smart to let it happen to me and I did survive a few more years than the others.  ( See For whom the bell tolls at http://www.bizarrepolitics.com/a-silent-bell-tolls-in-greenspan-era  - http://tapsearch.com/workers-dignity-betrayed  and http://tapsearch.com/clinton  ).

However, my list of about a thousand customers dwindle down to only a few as one business after another closed down.  I fought to the end for the last  micro computers made in the USA and for most of the micro industrial computers made in the USA and I lost.

Many of my friends in the business world faded away as if they were some old elephants trying to find a place to die.

I was offered a lucrative job to open a regional branch,  ( I had experience opening branch and regional offices for several major  computer manufacturers in the past. ) for a top software system house who served corporate accounts in major cities.  I was just about ready to take the job until I  found out that the systems and programmers were centered at large facility in the midwest and they were all green card workers from India.  They would work around the clock for a fraction of what their American counterparts made. Then they would take the money back to India after their green card ran out.  I thought of all those friends who had lost their jobs with many losing everything else and could not take the job - some even  lost their lives over it. )  It also was a no win situation for restoring our economy in the USA if the money went outside the USA.

This was the last well paying job I was ever offered. Outsourcing and insourcing  afflict suffering on those who are replaced. These are not new jobs.  I circled my wagons around my last remaining clients and  hopefully waited for the calvary to come and save the day.  I never  thought the American people would shop their  way out of their jobs and would soon respond to the great betrayal of workers by our government, big money and the unfair global economic arena.  They did not respond and the calvary never came. The Pope has finally responded in  this bewildered new world but it seems to be too litttle and too late. ( Can you hear me now sites at http://linkbun.ch/aztb

Many major brands remain as face to the customer but that is about the only thing  left.  One of my old companies which had about  5,000 employees,  now only has the brand left with a few contract agents selling for them.  Everything else is gone.

Outsourcing and insourcing is a debacle. ( The Roman Empire found this out too late too. )

The Bewildered New World hears from the Pope. It may be too little and too late.

The essence of women, nuns, sisterhood in an oasis of love by a 1950s man at http://www.therationale.com/oasis-of-love-and-sisterhood  The  sisters I had in grade school actually paved the way for me in the work world too. It was all about love being first.

Laurie Goodstein and Rachel Dunadio from the New York Times reported the issuing of Pope Benedict economic encyclical was delayed due to the economic crisis.  We explored the latent response of religion and philsophy to the global economic arena at http://www.therationale.com  Religion has trailed economic events for a long time instead of making a stand.   Newsweek/Washington Post published a review by Father Thomas J Reese SJ at Georgetown University and some who responded to the article wondered why Father Reese did not say more about what he thought about it and just repeated sections from it .
